Exhibition
As an extension of the exhibition ‘Seeing the Unseen. Quantum physics and art as entangled worlds’ at the ERES Foundation (Römerstraße 15), ‘It is plain that all is hidden’ invites on a journey to the limits of the visible. The focus is on the fundamental paradoxes of massless and timeless light particles which defy our imagination and thus confront both quantum physics and the visual arts with fundamental questions of representation.
The starting point for the work by Paul Valentin and Tatjana Vall is an impressive glass plate hologram, which has been commissioned by the ERES Foundation. It uses the classic Denisjuk process from the 1960s. The expansive installation also includes small puzzles, a laser-like beam of light and a video documentary about the creation of the holographic image. The hologram allows the multi-layered phenomenon of light to be experienced in a poetic way: as wave, particle, illusion and image all at once.
ERES Projects offers a platform for young art in Munich. Valentin and Vall use the medium of holography in the exhibition space as a bridge between scientific research and aesthetic reflection. In doing so, they ask fundamental questions about reality, perception and representation.
