In the immediate vicinity of the Giardini and the Arsenale, the ERES Foundation has three interim exhibition venues in a privately owned building. During certain opening hours, they are open to the public. They feature exhibitions that artistically formulate central topics of the ERES Foundation in regard to the interface of art and science. Venice, with its lagoon as a sensitive ecosystem and as a city particularly affected by climate change, was deliberately chosen as an additional exhibition venue. With the group exhibition “Shifting Waters” the ERES Foundation will be represented for the second time as an official Collateral Event at the Biennale in 2026. Based on seven internationally established artistic positions, the cabinet exhibition highlights the changing relationship between humans and water cycles, which are the basis of all life. Like Tue Greenfort’s project “Medusa Alga Laguna” which was shown at the Fondazione ERES in 2022, this exhibition also makes direct reference to the unique location. No other city in the world is as defined by water as Venice. Everything seems to converge in the lagoon: heaven and earth, illusion and reality, man and sea. It is the foundation’s desire to preserve Venice and keep its ecological, cultural and artistic heritage alive.
